Stoich for fuel is 14.7:1. If we ran that in a TT, wed detonate to pieces due to too much heat. Extra fuel is used as a detonation deterrent, and we tune to around 11.5. The extra fuel is simply used as a way to cool the mixture, and keep temps down, and to ultimately ward off detonation. You can run a higher A/F than 11.5, you just need to account for the extra heat/chance of detonation, via higher octane, bigger intercoolers(really more for added safety, not to lean out A/F), water/meth injection, or in his case, i believe he used high octane fuel + water/meth injection, and tuned to 14psi, and whatever A/F that turned out to be for him. He may have crossed the threshold for stock injectors with an A/F of 11.5, with a TT 10.5 compression motor, but you can still use the stock injectors, with added systems to keep it from detonating. Same goes for regular TT's. Stock injectors can handle more than 15psi of boost on stock turbos, you just cant utilize extra fuel to ward off detonation, you need something else, such as race gas or water/meth injection.
